Illiteracy: A concern for Nation
Introduction: We hear a lot about ‘illiteracy’ in developing countr ies. The illiteracy in India is a curse as it keeps people in complete darkness. Literacy is basically defined as illiteracy. People who have this ability and lack of knowledge in a particular field or subject are called illiterate. India is the second most populous country in the world and their level of illiteracy is high. Although many efforts and measures taken by the government have reduced the illiteracy rate to a large extent, still, about 287 million people in India are illiterate. This hinders the economic development of our nation and this must be stopped. Let’s take a look at the main causes of illiteracy in India and ways to remove it from our society. Causes of Illiteracy in India: 1. The root cause of India's high level of illiteracy is poverty. Poor parents cannot afford to send their children to public schools because they do not have the money to buy books and other necessities. 2. Lack of knowledg
